Routes like the Rogers Pass to Revelstoke, the Kicking Horse descent to Golden, and the Crowsnest Pass to Fernie are not the same as driving the QE2 to Edmonton. These are serious mountain highways — steep grades, tight switchbacks, avalanche zones, and winter conditions that can change rapidly. A rental car driver unfamiliar with these roads faces genuine risk in winter and significant stress in any season.
Our chauffeurs drive these routes regularly. They know when the Rogers Pass is at chain-up, how to read the Kicking Horse, and when to leave early to avoid Fernie powder-day traffic. For ski trips especially — where you're arriving jet-lagged, carrying gear, and possibly travelling with a family — having an experienced mountain driver remove that burden entirely is worth far more than the cost of the transfer.
For destinations like Jasper, Emerald Lake, and Golden, private transfer is also simply more practical than any alternative. There is no direct bus service to Emerald Lake. Jasper is 4+ hours from Calgary. For these longer routes, comfort, reliability, and an expert driver are not luxuries — they're necessities.
Jasper National Park is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies and, to many who have visited both, the more dramatic of the two great Rocky Mountain parks. The most spectacular route is the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93N) — 230 kilometres from Lake Louise to Jasper through the heart of the Rockies. Peyto Lake's electric blue water. Golden, BC, approximately 2.5 hours from Calgary via the Trans-Canada, sits at the confluence of the Kicking Horse and Columbia Rivers — within reach of five national parks. Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is one of Canada's premier ski mountains: 4,100 acres of terrain, 1,260 metres of vertical, and world-class steeps that attract expert skiers who find Banff's slopes too gentle. The Trans-Canada descent from the Great Divide into the Columbia Valley is one of the most dramatic stretches of highway in Canada — breathtaking to experience from the back of a luxury vehicle with someone else at the wheel.
Emerald Lake sits inside Yoho National Park, just across the BC border from Lake Louise, approximately 2.5 hours from Calgary. Many who have seen both Lake Louise and Emerald Lake consider Emerald the more beautiful — the water is an impossible jade green, fed by glacial rock flour from the President Range, and the Emerald Lake Lodge (a historic log-cabin resort since 1902) sits directly on the shore in one of the most romantic settings in western Canada. Private transfer is the only practical way to reach Emerald Lake — there is no public bus, no shuttle, and the single access road ends at the lakeshore.
Approximately 5.5 to 6 hours from Calgary via Trans-Canada through Golden and the Rogers Pass, Revelstoke is one of the most celebrated ski destinations in North America. Revelstoke Mountain Resort holds the greatest vertical drop of any ski resort in Canada — 1,713 metres — and the town receives over 10 metres of powder annually. The Rogers Pass section of the Trans-Canada, cutting through Glacier National Park between Golden and Revelstoke, is one of the most spectacular and technically demanding stretches of highway in Canada. Approximately 3 hours from Calgary via Highway 3 through the Crowsnest Pass, Fernie Alpine Resort offers five alpine bowls, 2,500 acres, and over 9 metres of dry Kootenay powder annually. The historic town of Fernie has an authentic mountain character — independent restaurants, local breweries, and a genuine frontier character quite different from busier resort communities. The Crowsnest Pass route is scenic and manageable in all seasons, but benefits enormously from an experienced driver in winter. We serve all Fernie hotels, the ski resort, and private vacation rental properties in the Elk Valley.
